A northern Victoria MP says keeping people in their homes and out of hospital in preventative health care was one of a number
of steps needed to improve regional healthcare as ambulances fail their response targets.
The Derryn Hinch's Justice Party MP Tania Maxwell MP said:
"We need more boots and wheels on the ground where we live particularly in rural and regional areas. When people phone for an ambulance they want an ambulance.
"The performance data for July-September quarter showed the service on average got to a code 1 callout patient inside its 15 minute target in only two of the 27 local councils in my electorate. It's not safe."
