Nominations open for SA Biosecurity Farmer of the Year

Livestock SA is calling on producers, groups and organisations to nominate for the 2026 Biosecurity Farmer of the Year Award.

Now in its fourth year, the award recognises producers, across the red meat and wool industries who are strengthening biosecurity and protecting the future of South Australia’s livestock sector.

Livestock SA Chief Executive Officer Travis Tobin says biosecurity is one of the most important responsibilities shared by livestock producers.

“Strong biosecurity underpins the success and resilience of our state’s livestock industry. Every producer has a role to play in protecting animals, other businesses and market access,” he said.

Nominees must have a current farm biosecurity plan and demonstrate strong on-farm practices that reduce the spread of pests, diseases and weeds.

Nominations can be submitted in writing or via video, with more information available at livestocksa.com.au. Applications close on September 10, with the winner announced at the Livestock SA Industry Dinner on November 19.

The winner will receive a one-thousand-dollar prize and be automatically nominated for the 2026 Australian Biosecurity Awards.
