The National Farmers’ Federation has appointed former Special Representative for Australian Agriculture, Su McCluskey, as Australia’s new Agriculture Trade Diversification Representative.
The federally funded twelve-month role has been established under the Accessing New Markets Initiative and aims to strengthen trade opportunities in both established and emerging export markets.
NFF Chief Executive Mike Guerin says Ms McCluskey brings extensive international experience, strong industry networks and a deep understanding of Australian agriculture.
He says the role will provide a whole-of-sector voice in global trade discussions, while helping industry and government identify new opportunities for growth.
Ms McCluskey says the global trading environment is becoming increasingly volatile, making market diversification more important than ever.
With almost eighty per cent of Australia’s food and fibre production exported, she says the sector must continue pursuing new markets while building on relationships in existing ones. Ms McCluskey will commence the role on the first of July.
