A Supreme Court challenge to fines issued for non-compliance with public health orders regarding COVID-19 measures has succeeded.
NSW Revenue will now withdraw 33,121 outstanding fines after the decision, with millions of dollars of refunds to be paid to those who had already coughed up.
Justice Dina Yehia ruled on Tuesday the fines were not valid because they did not include a description of the offences.
The case had been launched by the Redfern Legal Centre on behalf of three men fined under the public health orders.
Justice Yehia's reasons will be published in the New Year.
