Funding secured for Wycheproof Saleyards

The Wycheproof Saleyards will receive a number of key upgrades thanks to the funding secured through the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).

The ‘Protecting and Sustaining Wycheproof Saleyards’ Project will see an upgrade to key infrastructure and construction of roofing, as well as safety upgrades to new ramps in the facility.

The Wycheproof Saleyards is regarded as the largest store sheep selling centre in regional Victoria, with a turnover of around 100,000 sheep per year. The funding of $142,699 from the BBRF will ensure that the sale yards will continue to grow in a safe and sustainable way.

Mayor Cr Daryl Warren commented that the upgrades will ensure safety at the sale yards for staff and sale attendees as well as underpinning the welfare of the animals, in line with industry standards.

“it’s fantastic to be welcoming this funding into Buloke, and this investment the Wycheproof Saleyards, a key piece of our infrastructure that supports the economic backbone of our area.”
