Forestry Centre of Excellence Opens in Mount Gambier

A new $16 million Forestry Centre of Excellence has officially opened in Mount Gambier, marking a significant investment in South Australia’s forest and timber industries.

 

The purpose-built facility is a collaboration between the South Australian Government, University of Adelaide and industry partners, forming part of more than $21 million invested in forestry over the past four years.

 

Constructed using locally sourced plantation timber, the centre will support education, research and workforce capability in the Green Triangle region.

 

The site will also accommodate the Green Triangle Forest Industries Hub and Tree Breeding Australia, strengthening links between research, training and commercial operations.

 

Led by inaugural director Professor Jeff Morrell, the centre is expected to enhance productivity, sustainability and global competitiveness across the sector. sector.
