Entries are now open for the 2026 Feedlot of the Year competition, an industry-led initiative that recognises leadership and innovation across Australia's cattle feedlots.

Delivered by the Australian Lot Feeders Association - in partnership with AusMeat - the competition supports continuous improvement and showcases feedlots operating under the National Feedlot Assurance Scheme.

This year's competition features a simplified application process and waived entry fees for feedlots with a capacity of under 3,000 head.

ALFA President Grant Garey said the changes are about encouraging wider industry participation.

He said it provides an opportunity for feedlots of all sizes to benchmark themselves, celebrate achievements and showcase leadership in best practice. There are four entry categories based off feedlot capacity.

All entries remain confidential and will be independently assessed, with each entrant receiving individual benchmarking feedback.

Entries close on Friday, October 17, and winners will be announced next September at BeefX 2026.
