CFS respond to Mid North Grass Fire

Local CFS crews and farm fire units combined to extinguish a fast-moving grass fire in the Mid North on Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 3 o'clock this afternoon CFS firefighters were alerted to a grass fire burning in the vicinity of wind turbines at Hacklins Corner, near Spalding.

Local fire crews were initially supported by firefighting aircraft that completed 4 drops onto the fireground. 30 firefighters on 6 fire trucks and 2 command vehicles currently remain in attendance at the fire and will be on scene overnight to mop up in preparation for the forecasted fire weather expected across the Mid North district on Thursday.

Local crews were also supported by more than 10 farm fire units. The CFS issued a statement this afternoon thanking them for their quick response, support and attendance at this fire.
