Grassfed cattle producers are being encouraged to contribute to a national review of the Cattle Transaction Levy, as industry seeks to ensure it remains fit for purpose.
The $5 levy has been unchanged since 2006, and the review is examining whether current arrangements continue to deliver value for producers and the wider industry.
Cattle Australia says the process will help determine how levy funds can be best directed to address modern challenges facing the sector.
Committee member Hugh Nivison says the levy has historically supported key industry priorities including market access, traceability and eating quality improvements.
He says the review is an opportunity for producers to provide direct input on where investment is working, and where improvements can be made.
A national survey is now open, taking around five to ten minutes to complete, with responses feeding into future consultation and recommendations on levy settings and investment priorities.
