Australian beef exports reached record levels in 2025, with total volumes climbing to more than 1.5 million tonnes, up 15 per cent on the previous year.

Both grassfed and grainfed beef exports achieved calendar-year records, reflecting strong global demand and consistent domestic supply.

The United States remained Australia’s largest export market, supported by reduced domestic production and Australia’s reputation as a reliable supplier of quality red meat.

Exports to key North Asian markets also increased, with strong year-on-year growth recorded in China, Japan and South Korea.

In total, Australian beef was exported to 83 countries during 2025, the highest number since 2015.

Industry analysts say Australia has continued to grow market share as other major exporters reduce production.

With global beef supplies expected to tighten further in 2026, the outlook for Australian beef exports remains positive.
