Australian horticulture growers are being encouraged to apply for a new international leadership program offering the opportunity to visit the United States later this year.

The International Fresh Produce Association and Hort Innovation are accepting applications for the inaugural Global Grower Leaders program, with participants travelling to Florida in October.

The study tour will provide exposure to global innovation, emerging technologies, sustainability initiatives, retail markets and international supply chains through visits to leading organisations and attendance at the Global Produce and Floral Show.

Hort Innovation says the program is designed to strengthen leadership capability across the horticulture sector while helping growers bring practical knowledge and global best practice back to Australia.

Organisers say participants will also build valuable international networks and gain insights that can improve innovation, productivity and long-term competitiveness across the fresh produce industry.

The initiative is jointly funded by Hort Innovation, the International Fresh Produce Association and the Australian Government.

Applications close on the 10th of July, with places limited for the inaugural program.
