The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences is beginning its annual survey of Australian farm businesses, with around 100,900 producers to be interviewed across the country.

A team of thirty-five survey collectors will conduct face-to-face interviews through to December, gathering information on production, costs, land use and overall farm business performance.

ABARES Assistant Secretary Andrea Willis says the information provides an important evidence base for governments and industry when responding to challenges including drought and trade disruptions.

Farmers selected to participate are being encouraged to take part, with ABARES saying the survey depends on producers representing their industries and regions.

The bureau has conducted agricultural surveys for more than 70 years, providing some of Australia's longest-running data on farm business performance.
