Orroroo top in Northern Areas cricket

Home side Orroroo went to the top of the A grade ladder on Saturday afternoon with a comfortable 9 wicket win over Belalie/Mannanarie.


The away team won the toss and elected to bat, finishing their 40 overs at 6 for 133. Jaeschke and fielding top-scored for Belalie/Mannanarie with 27 each with Harrison Davies best with the ball for Orroroo taking 4 for 35.


In reply Orroroo made light work of the target, losing just one wicket and bringing up the winning runs in the 26th over. Matt Kuerschner top-scored for the winners with 76 for just 79 balls.


At Booleroo Centre it was Burra defeating the home team by 1 wicket in a thriller. Booleroo/Willowie batted first and finished their 40 overs at 9 for 140. Clarke (34) was best with the bat with Oppeerman taking 3 for 15 with the ball for Burra.


In reply, Burra took their run chase down to the final ball on the innings with number 11 Will brooks hitting the winning runs. Cousins (53) top-scored for Burra with Dumford and McCallum both taking 3 wickets for Booleroo/Willowie.


At Melrose Oval, the home side went down to Bundaleer by 5 wickets. Wilmington/Melrose batted first and was bowled out for 170 in the 39th over. Cody Scutcheon (53) was best with the bat for the home team with the Clarke boys both taking 3 wickets.


Bundaleer was never in any real trouble during the chase, reaching the target in the 38th over. Hagger cracked 75 not out at first drop for the winners in a match-winning performance.


The final match of the round saw Spalding/Booborowie defeat Pekina/Carrieton with no details of the match available at the time of writing.
