New Export Approvals Strengthen Red Meat Trade with Indonesia

Australia’s red meat sector has received a further boost, with five additional export meat establishments approved to supply beef to Indonesia, including one facility cleared to export sheep and goat meat.

The development expands access to a key international market and strengthens the supply of high-quality Australian halal meat to Indonesian consumers.

Indonesia remains a significant destination for Australian red meat, with beef and veal exports valued at 581 million dollars in 2025, marking a 49 per cent increase since 2022.

The approvals follow extensive collaboration between government, industry and Indonesian authorities, with new facilities located across Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania.

This marks the second successful outcome from Indonesian audits in two years, bringing the total number of newly approved Australian establishments to seven since late 2024.

Federal Agriculture Minister Julie Collins says the decision reflects Indonesia’s confidence in Australia’s halal production systems and reinforces the nation’s reputation as a trusted global supplier.
