After a record number of submission's at this year's #AgDayAU Photo Competition, adjudicators settled on an entry showcasing the intensity of apiculture as the prize-winner, pipping a stunning sunset photo from Kaniva for the win.
Entrants were handed the brief of capturing themes inspired by the adventurous nature that working in Australian agriculture can offer.
Russell Ord from Western Australia's Margaret River region took out the win with the above image of a beekeeper going about their work.
NFF President Fiona Simson said a wide-range of entries were received with budding photographers snapping all kinds of agricultural elements, including cropping to stock work, apiculture and a look at the next generation of farmers.
"This year’s participants certainly made it tough for the judges. With so many incredible images submitted, all capturing fantastic careers in action, it was difficult to narrow down the finalists, let alone a winner."
Paul Luxton, the Syngenta Australia & New Zealand Managing Director, who co-hosted the comp with the NFF, said the contest was all about publicising the types of fulfilling opportunities the industry offers workers.
"The winning images succeed in taking you right to the paddock, tractor cab or the orchard. They perfectly capture the diversity in Australian agriculture and the dedication of those who work in our industry."
An impressive submission into the competition was made by a resident of Kaniva in Victoria, Mark Merrett.
His photograph illustrates the isolated feeling many farming workers will resonate with when it comes to a day on the job in the vast plains of rural Australia with the backdrop of the sun setting.
The image won the runner-up prize.
