CFS urges people to prepare for fire danger season

South Australians are being encouraged to prepare their homes, properties, and families ahead of this year's bushfire season.

The Country Fire Service (CFS) has declared October 'Be Bushfire Ready' month. This year's seasonal bushfire outlook suggests an average fire season in SA. However, the potential of fast-moving grass fires in remote areas of the state remains a significant concern for CFS crews in those areas.

CFS Acting Manager of Community Preparedness, Joel Taggart, spoke with Jason from FLOW FM Australia earlier and mentioned there are several things landowners can do to prepare themselves, and their property, for the coming bushfire danger period.

"October is the perfect month to start turning to your attention to cleaning up around your property," Taggart says.
"Things like cleaning gutters, pruning bushes around the house and working out if you need any new sprinklers or water supplies for your home.
"It's also the right time to either start work on, or review, your bushfire survival plan".
