Agriculture Victoria warns of harvest Biosecurity risks

Agriculture Victoria is asking farmers and livestock producers to stay on top of any potential biosecurity risks during this seasons grain harvest.

Agriculture Victoria Grains Biosecurity Officer Jim Moran said the pandemic has taught people more about biosecurity with measures such as movement restrictions and contact tracing and the same principles apply to good farm biosecurity at harvest time.

“Harvest contractors provide valuable services and are very professional in the way they go about their business," Jim said.
“But farmers must be aware of the biosecurity risks that moving from farm to farm can pose and mitigate those risks with some assertive investigation and action.”

Jim spoke with Jason Regan from FLOW FM Australia for Country Viewpoint with some hints and tips for staying on top of any biosecurity risks this harvest.
